Objectives
The Professional Computer Association
has two major aims:
Enhancing
the capabilities of Lebanon's ICT companies, in order to compete
better in the Regional and Global markets.
Transforming
Lebanon into a knowledge enabled economy, in order to participate
pro-actively in the Global economy.
Towards an Information Society
Developing a global information society is a trend currently
in progress to advance economic growth and social welfare.
In collaboration with governmental parties and other organizations,
the business sector can accomplish the access of society to
information and communications technologies (ICTs), which
can significantly improve the world’s least developed
countries or whichever communities that are in need. The objective
is to establish an information society through a well-developed
plan, composed of the following:
Availability
of secure information, communication tools, training and education
of human resources (through public-private partnerships and
educational strategies) and incorporation of ICTs in social
services in order to assure a better quality of life and more
efficiency for individuals.
Establishing
clear and transparent regulations that respect non-discrimination,
protect intellectual property, liberalize trade and appreciate
negotiation and implementation of commercial value-based agreements
between businesses. These regulations should be based on effectual
communication between governmental parties and the business
sector domestically, regionally and globally.
Elimination
of barriers that deter innovation, entrepreneurship and the
start-up of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and other
businesses by establishing a business friendly environment
and availing proper financing.
Encouraging
businesses of all sizes to integrate ICTs in their operations
and as a result improve the performance and the productivity
of their employees.
Fighting
cybercrime through a proper legal framework and promoting
a worldwide culture of information and communications network
security.
Incorporation
of ICTs into national and international social and economic
development strategies that promote an Information Society
for all.
In conclusion, the business sector should support existing
public-private ICT partnerships and should create appropriate
ambiances, together with short-term and long-term strategies.
