| With the presence of USAID, SRI and Microsoft, Professional Computer Association (PCA) is organizing a coktail in which certificates were distributed to the trainers who have accomplished the training session - " Trains the trainer " - successfully.
The ceremony took place on Tuesday the 21st of December 2004, 4 PM at the Gefinor Rotana Hotel.
أقامت جمعية المعلوماتية المهنية بالتعاون مع الوكالة الأميركية الدولية للتنمية ومؤسسة ستانفورد للأبحاث ومايكروسوفت حفلا في فندق جفينور روتانا وزعت خلاله الشهادات على المدربين لمراكز الانترنت التابعة للجمعية PiPOP
حضر الحفل السيد روبير كنعان ممثلا جمعية المعلوماتية المهنية جلال فواز, مدير "ستانفورد" جايمس بيلينغز, والمدير العام لمايكروسوفت الشرق الأوسط شربل فاخوري ومدير الوكالة الأميركية رؤوف يوسف وعدد من المدعوين.
بدءا أشار كنعان الى أن المشروع "فريد من نوعه كونه الوحيد الذي يغطي الأراضي اللبنانية في شكل متوازن, ويوصل المعلوماتية الى كل المناطق وخصوصا الريفية منها".
من جهته حض بيلينغزالجميع على العمل والمثابرة وعد بتقديم الدعم والعمل في موازاة الجهود التي تبذل في هذا السياق.
اما فاخوري, فأشاد بالتعاون بين الشركات التي تعنى بتطوير المجتمعات, مؤكدا اهمية افتتاح الجمعية 30 مركزا لتأثير تلك المراكز على فئة واسعة من اللبنانيين وعلى الاقتصاد.
وألقى كنعان كلمة فواز, فأشار الى انتشار مراكز PiPOP في كل المحافظات, معتبرا ان تطور هذه المراكز لتشمل ليس نشر المعلوماتية والانترنت فحسب, بل لتكون صلة وصل بين لبنان المقيم والمغترب عن طريق انشاء مواقع على شبكة الانترنت للقرى والمدن التي أنشئت فيها هذه المراكز, اضافة الى عوامل عدة أهمها: خلق وظائف ثابتة في القرى تعمل داخل المركز واعطاء دروس في المعلوماتية التلامذة وأصحاب المهن اضافة الى المعلومات السياحية.
وأخيرا هنأ يوسف المدربين, ثم جرى توزيع الشهادات.
Mr. Charbel Fakhoury represented Microsoft and delivered the speech below
 " Microsoft and I are committed to Digital Inclusion in Lebanon; our partnership with PCA since establishment has focused on cooperation for developing Lebanon Information Society, Developing local software economy, and Knowledge transfer.
PiPoP is one of the community projects that combined efforts from private, public, and NGOs to support Lebanese citizens to participate in the information age leveraging the Internet, Microsoft is very proud to be part of this project, and we are committed to take PiPOP with PCA and other stakeholders to a new level.
The coronation for the Trainers today, is one of the key success factors of PiPOP, and I see the trainers as Drivers to expand the role of PiPOP to play a stronger role in developing the towns and villages they come from, Microsoft & PCA have been discussing ideas to engage PiPOP in developmental initiatives that can serve local businesses and create new Jobs.
We will be inviting all PiPOP stakeholders to a roundtable to discuss the opportunities that we can cooperate on for a long term sustainable business model."
