| PCA reminds Ministry Of Telecom of the Telco law.
PCA reminds that due to the efforts of MOT, a new telco law has been formed one year ago. This law was checked by international experts, but it is not been applied yet. PCA explained that the law, once applied will solve recent problems and help to increase competition among all telco sectors. PCA held a press release to explain several points shown in the Consumer Association release concerning the number of Internet users and the related tariffs. The consumer association mentioned that the number of Internert users in Lebanon is representing 11 %. It is known that Internet users represents almost 8% in Lebanon (the International average is almost 6%), which is a very weak percentage compared to the Lebanese capabilities and their academic and cultural background. The Consumer Association added that the annual Internet tariffs per consumer is about $1000 including Internet access and telephone bills. PCA precise that the annual tariffs imposed by ISPs is not exceeding $250 adding other MOT fees. The internet card cost $20 per month which means cheaper price than most civilized countries.
